Valacyclovir for the Treatment of Herpes
There is no cure for herpes, but there is treatment. Valacyclovir is an antiviral medication that can be used for the treatment of oral and genital herpes in one of two ways:
- It can be taken on an as-needed basis when you have a flare up. When taken this way, it slows the growth and spread of the virus, and helps your body to fight the infection.
- It can be taken daily to prevent outbreaks from occurring in the first place.
