Sun Damage Gel

Sun Damage Gel for Treatment of Hyperpigmentation

If you have brown spots from too much time in the sun, this may be the solution for you. Our Sun Damage Gel contains three powerful ingredients to even skin tone: Tranexamic Acid, Niacinamide, and Tretinoin.

Tranexamic Acid forms the backbone of this formula. It treats hyperpigmentation by inhibiting the effects of the “plasminogen activation pathway”. We know…that’s a mouthful. What’s important to know is that this pathway has to do with sun exposure. While hyperpigmentation can occur for different reasons, Tranexamic Acid works well on brown spots that are caused by too much time in the sun because it reduces melanin production that is specifically triggered by UV rays.

Niacinamide helps to lighten skin by inhibiting the transfer of pigment from melanocytes (i.e. pigment cells) to keratinocytes (i.e. skin cells).

While Tretinoin doesn’t do much to treat hyperpigmentation on its own, it makes for a nice adjunct to the other ingredients contained within this formula because it accelerates the lightening of brown spots by promoting turnover of skin cells.

Suggested Use:
Wash face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. Apply a pea-sized amount of gel to the entire face at bedtime. Start by applying every 3 nights for 2 weeks, then every other night for 2 weeks, working up to nightly use. Reduce frequency of application if skin irritation occurs, working up to nightly use more slowly. Peeling and redness are common when treatment is started, but these symptoms subside with continued use. Avoid getting gel in eyes, nose, or mouth. Use only as directed.
